Krabi borders on one side to the Andaman Sea where unnumbered natural attractions abound, including white sand beaches, beautiful coral gardens rich in underwater life, uncounted tropical islands, verdant forest and highly interesting archaeological remains.
Less crowded than the neighboring province of Phuket, and more laid back than Koh Samui, with a range of hotels from budget to five star, Krabi really is the ultimate holiday destination.
Krabi Beaches
Besides the dramatic karst landscapes, formed by eroded limestones, the Krabi Province offers a lot of recreational possibilities. It is maybe one of the truest beach destinations in the world -- picture-postcard views whereever you look, great opportunities for outdoors activities and diving.
Beaches like Ao Nang or Railay invite for kayaking tours or rock climbing and have gained world renown for their beauty.
Krabi National Parks
Krabi is a province rich in national parks on land and sea. Of major importance is the Hat Noppharat Thara - Koh Phi Phi National Park southwest of Krabi Town. Besides over 80 islands, the park contains the two Phi Phi Islands with their picture-postcard beaches and exciting holiday atmosphere.
Other National Parks in the region invite for extensive nature tours, rafting and trekking.
Krabi Islands
Krabi sits in an area of outstanding natural beauty with dozens of spectacular islands, many within easy reach. Swim, snorkel, take a dive trip, go kayaking, or simply explore the islands.
Krabi Town
Krabi Town, provincial capital of Krabi, has an estimated number of 20,000 inhabitants. The old commercial center is squarish with street plan in a rectangle with a long esplanade at the estuary. Commercial hubs are Maharaj Road and Uttakarit Road with numerous shops and restaurants.
Tourists wanting to visit Koh Lanta or the Phi Phi islands pass through the local Chao Fah pier.
