The peninsula of Railay is isolated from the mainland and is surrounded by the warm, clear and vast Andaman Sea, lush greens around, and twisted rocks. It provides enough activities to the most adventurous while allowing those who just want to chill out in paradise the opportunity to do just that.

There is a gentle atmosphere on Railay; absent are bars competing against each other with techno music. As such, the site has become a destination of choice for people trying to avoid crowds in Ao Nang and Phi-Phi. Given that's its chief attraction, more and more people are frequenting the beach, and it's only a matter of time until Railay Beach becomes equally as busy! Amongst other activities, Railay is famous for its rock climbing. This is an ideal location to watch the beautiful sunsets the beach offers.

Railay is a very small place and with only a limited amount of accommodation and facilities.

The Beauty of Railay West.

Tonsai (relatively quieter than other beaches), Railay West, Railay East and Phra Nang (often referred to as the "Phra Nang Cave" beach) are nestle between towering limestone cliffs, accessible only by boat. Railay West, Phra Nang Cave Beach and Railay East beaches are connected by narrow footpaths winding around the base of the cliffs.

Railay West offers perfectly soft sand, a wide beach, informal beach restaurants, friendly locals and a tiny community of travelers.

Travellers visiting Phra Nang Cave Beach by boat are amazed by this beautiful cove. Phra Nang is more popular and busier than Railay West, especially in high tourist season during Nov- April and has all the ingredients of a perfect beach.

Tham Phra Nang Nok lies at the bottom of the cliffs and also known as Princess Cave.

Along the pathway which links to Railay West are a number of small bungalows giving the feeling of a small self contained village with restaurants and convenience stores.

Interested tourists can walk to Phra Nang Beach from Railay East, which is about 15 minutes distance. Both of these beaches are connted by a path that follows the base of the cliffs bordered by few caves

Railay Beach Activities

There, tourists can enjoy a number of activities: Rock climbing is one of the most revered activity for all visiters where travelers can even take-up a number of courses (for absolute beginner to advanced climbers) on rock climbing. The most choiced activity is limestone cliff climbing. There are a number of other activities that the traveler can have fun with like Sea Kayaking, Viewpoints & More.
