There is a wide range of Krabi hotels and resorts that suit various tastes and budget. The majority of the hotels are small to medium sized where you find personal and friendly service, even if the staff cannot speak that fluent English! Of course, there are some international hotel groups too located in Krabi like the Sheraton, Holiday Inn and the latest, Central Krabi Bay Resort.

Krabi hotels charge the most during its peak season

The peak season for Krabi hotels is from November to April as this is when maximum tourists visit Krabi. So this is also the time when Krabi hotels charge the highest prices, and are the busiest. In fact, during Christmas and New Year, many resorts in Krabi even charge supplements to their normal prices. So if you wish to visit Krabi in these months, it is better that you make advance bookings in your Krabi hotels.

However if you wish to make some savings in your hotel stay in Krabi hotels, you should visit Krabi off season, in the monsoon months of May to October. This is when rates in Krabi hotels fall as much as 50 percent. So if you are prepared to risk the rain, you can save a lot of money this way.

Save money by using Krabi hotels in Krabi town as a base

Krabi hotels in Ao Nang and Koh Lanta are generally cheaper than hotels in Railay and Koh Phi Phi. This is mainly because of running costs. In fact, some hotels have no electricity, and electricity is supplied to the hotel via fuel-guzzling generators.

When on a budget, you can save money staying in Ao Nang, and visit other parts of Krabi like Phi Phi and Railay on day trips. Basically, the cheapest Krabi hotels are in Krabi town. However they are best used as bases for your day trips, as there is no beach here at all.
